Business Manager

The ideal candidate for the Business Manager position should have a Bachelor’s in Business or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred), over 5 years of experience in business and financial management, preferably in a church or non-profit setting, and possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. This leader should demonstrate deep personal integrity, spiritual grounding, and have the ability to engage with a diverse community effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Participating in strategic planning processes, managing finance and property projects, and building operational systems for sustainable growth.
  2.  Financial Management: Acting as Chief Financial Officer, managing daily business operations, budgeting, maintaining financial accounts, ensuring internal controls, and overseeing payroll and financial forecasting.
  3. Buildings and Property Management: Maintaining inventory and legal documentation of properties, ensuring adequate insurance coverage, managing risk, and supervising maintenance and construction projects.
  4. Committee Involvement: Advising and working actively with various church committees, attending meetings to provide financial updates, and contributing to policy formulation.
  5. Human Capital Management: Overseeing the hiring process, maintaining personnel files, developing job descriptions, and ensuring staff performance meets expectations.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business and financial management, ideally within a church or non-profit setting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese, preferred.

Minister of Children, Families, and Volunteer Coordination

The ideal candidate will have a strong, personal depth and spiritual grounding and a desire to guide children as they grow in the love of Christ. The leader who will thrive in this role will have an ability to connect relationally with children, families, and volunteers, understand how to create a safe environment where children feel welcomed and loved, and know how to recruit, lead, and equip volunteer teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide long-term vision and infrastructure for a sustainable children’s ministry that develops children into lifelong disciples of Jesus.
  • Lead and equip a team of children’s ministry volunteers who share ownership of the ministry.
  • Shape content and programs to give children and families the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to love God and love others.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • appropriate experience working with children’s programs
  • Training and experience working with children who have special needs and their families
  • Bilingual (preferred)

Director of Youth Ministries

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong commitment to their own spiritual journey and a willingness to collaborate with church leadership to align youth initiatives with the overall mission and values of the church.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and equip a team of youth ministry interns and volunteers who share ownership of the ministry.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program that nurtures the spiritual growth of young people.
  • Build and maintain relationships with youth and their families, providing pastoral care and support as needed.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Proven experience working with youth in a ministry or similar setting.
  • An enthusiastic and energetic approach to youth ministry, with the ability to engage and inspire young people.
  • Bilingual (preferred).

Music Director

Applicant must have an attitude of service and live a lifestyle consistent with the mission and goals of Sunset Presbyterian Church.  Keyboard/piano skills required.  Choir direction experience preferred.  Organ skill helpful.  Other instruments such as guitar helpful.  Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred, but not required.  Willingness to mix musical styles (such as traditional and contemporary, electric guitar with piano) required.  Demonstrated familiarity and versatility with classical music, traditional hymns and older contemporary Christian music (1970s to 1990s) required.  Familiarity with newer contemporary music helpful.
