The Presbytery of Tropical Florida is a mid-council entity of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and part of the Synod of South Atlantic. We consist of 42 congregations in southeast Florida, encompassing seven counties that stretch from Ft. Pierce in the north and Key West to the south. Our communities are diverse and our ministry reaches all ages. We aim to follow the example of Christ to love God and love our neighbors. Our presbytery is under the leadership of our General Presbyter and Stated Clerk, the Rev. Dr. Daris Bultena, who has embarked us onto a journey towards being Vibrant Together.
Our Mission Statement:
The Presbytery of Tropical Florida engages, equips, and encourages vibrant Christ-centered communities to build relationships, have spiritual depth, and be missional. Through leadership development, disciple making, vital worship, reconciliation, and clarity of identity we are Vibrant Together.
This map says it all. Look at Florida. The CDC guidelines are changing due to rapid growth of COVID-19 numbers. The CDC is suggesting that everyone in a red or orange county go back to wearing masks. I will again be wearing mine, and I hope you will again be wearing yours too. Mask up. Physically distance. Stay out of crowds—including congregational crowds.
MINISTRY DURING COVID-19
We are not restaurants, nor are we retail stores. We are the church. We are not closed. Our churches have been wonderfully open. While our buildings have been closed, our churches have been beautifully open with new ways of worship, fellowship, prayer, and connection. We have made those decisions to not gather persons together out of love. We have acted in love and regard for our brothers and sisters out of a concern for safety.
