GA227 Amendments Voting at November Assembly

GA227 CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
VOTING AT NOVEMBER ASSEMBLY

The 227th General Assembly of the PCUSA met this summer.  Nic Merchant (moderator) and Nancy Fine (vice-moderator) were Tropical Florida’s commissioners to the General Assembly.  That General Assembly passed 25 amendments to the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church USA.  In order for those amendments to become part of the Book of Order a majority of Presbyteries in the union must ratify them.

At our Presbytery Assembly on November 7, 2026, we will be voting on all the proposed amendments.  Each amendment will be considered individually.  Commissioners are invited to familiarize themselves with the amendments.  Today you have a few documents with this posting.  You have the full text of the amendments in the booklet provided by the Stated Clerk’s office.  You also are receiving  a document that may be more workable for you. It is the condensed version that shows just the change that is proposed.  If you wonder about something in the condensed, then you might want to go read the full details on that amendment.  You will also receive a voting sheet for your use only – it is not a voting ballot that is turned in.

We pray that having these materials a few days in advance adds to your ability to vote fully informed on these amendments at the November Assembly.
